Volunteering opportunities with Nasty Women North East
In order to make our next Nasty adventure (the first ever Nasty Women International Conference 2017) a reality we need a group of dedicated, fun and creative Nasty (in the nicest possible way) volunteers- could this be you?
We are looking for people to help in the following areas- if any appeal- please get in contact with Michaela email@example.com
or if you can offer other skills (fire dancing, oompah band-ing, piñata making…) let us know
Art handlers - roughly one day a week at the venue, taking in art works sent by post or delivered by hand - unpacking artwork, logging work on a database, contacting artists thanking them for their donations and wrapping work back up for storage. Liaising with artists re any issues and meet and greet artists, members of the public and buyers on the preview night.
Conference organisers- roughly one day a week until Nov- then some activities most days Nov 3rd-18th (could be a few hours a day remotely / on site at the venue). compiling schedules, contacting potential speakers / delegates, feeding info into the events manual (hiring equipment, health and safety etc.), manage ticket sales, preparing delegate packs, meet and greet artists/ speakers from airport etc., Liaising with Hosts, organising transport and accommodation for artists/ speakers, meet and greet delegates
PR-roughly one day a week on site at the venue / remotely promoting the events (conference and exhibition) to potential artists, delegates and buyers etc., sending out postal and email invites, promoting via social media, feeding into Press releases, building relationships with art / feminist / human rights bloggers / media to promote the events and raise the profile of the events, after events promoting our successes and helping the team apply for awards etc. for the events
Community Workshop facilitators – roughly one day a week until the exhibition- helping local people to experiment with different art forms and make to work for the exhibition- this can include performance, 2 and 3d art works
Curatorial assistants / hanging team – most days from Nov 3rd to Nov 18th with some meetings prior to this. Working closely with curator Michaela to manage and hang the exhibition - health and safety, condition checks and insurance etc., labelling work
Hosts- we are looking for lovely local people who can provide a comfortable, relaxing and welcoming place for artist speakers to stay whilst they are participating in the conference. Min 2 nights ideally 3 nights, we hope to be able to offer some money towards food etc., but this will depend on how successful our crowd funding is!
Events Team- helping to dress the venue (could include making decorations / installations), meet and greet visitors to the exhibition, create a party atmosphere (fire dancers, jugglers, magicians, musicians, burly boys and girls, fierce and fabulous kings / queens / jesters), clearing up the next day!
If there is anything specific you want from volunteering with us (like particular experience, references, volunteering that supports your work / study, quotes for your website etc.) please let Michaela know when you first get in contact so we can try to offer you opportunities that will help you with this
