Welcome to our “Story Shrine” built (from recycled plastic bag flowers) to house and honour tales by and about people from Whitley Bay.
It is inspired by Catholic shrines Kitt visited as a child in Portugal and Carol’s dad’s boat, which he made by hand with recycled wood in the front room of their family home.
The stories share messages of community, mystery and possibility.
To access them, audiences were invited to present their phones as temporary votive offerings by:
placing them inside the shrine on the small stand (made from black and purple flowers)
·pressing the large yellow “Start” button which then appeared on the phone screen
The following stories then played with accompanying images (as described in the audio)
You can listen to the stories here:
You can access a downloadable word doc of the stories and image descriptions: HERE
Please be aware, some audiences may find some Story Shrine content upsetting / triggering.
